Primary Program Assisstance Requested

The Primary program is coming up as you well know and Jacob has been asked to give a one minute talk on the President Monson as the Prophet of our church. We thought it would be cool to have each of you give your impressions and feelings of the new prophet. Then Jacob could base his talk on this. I know some of you (Uncle Ted) may have had the opportunity to speak with this great man in a more personal setting. I hope you all can help make Jacob's talk great! Thanks

I like how President Monson teaches by giving memorable phrases, like "Hallmarks of a Happy Home: A Library of Learning, A Legacy of Love, and a Treasury of Testimony."

Most recently he said: "Choose to listen, choose to learn, choose to labor, and choose to love."

He wants to package his message in such a way that we can remember it more easily.

Well, Jacob, I've never talked to President Monson in person, but I know he is a true prophet. He's also really good at telling stories that teach a lesson (just like Jesus did). I've heard him tell stories about pigeons, snakes, trees, termites, treasure maps, tree houses, bridges, beetles, basketball, softball, swimming, running, emeralds, church bells, violins, and octopus traps. But most of all I think he likes to tells stories about people, because that's what he loves the most.

Hey, what about me?! President Monson and I are tight! We talk daily and email all the time too! Oh, wait, I think I'm talking about one of my weird pregnancy dreams again ... not reality. Too bad, wouldn't that be cool?

So, here is my real impression. I'm so happy that when President Hinckley died (sad for us, but happy for him) the transition to the next prophet and president of the church was so seamless. We all knew it would be Thomas S. Monson and we all had the oppotunity to sustain him and there was no big uproar, or vote, or people campaigning to be prophet. It really reminded me that this is the Lord's church. Also, I love President Monson's talks because he always seems to use poems and other catchy things to help us remember what he said.
